Directions
1. Activate the Yeast
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour and make a well in the center. Place the yeast and sugar in the well, then pour the lukewarm water over them. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
2. Make the Dough
Add salt and mix all the ingredients together. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. Add a little more water if needed.
3. First Dough Rest
Cover the bowl with a cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
4. Divide and Rest Again
Divide the dough into two equal parts and cover again. Let it rest for another 15 minutes.
5. Layer and Fold the Dough
Roll out one dough ball into a thin sheet. Brush generously with olive oil or melted vegan butter. Fold both sides toward the center, brush with oil again, and then fold into an envelope shape. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
6. Roll Out and Add Toppings
Roll out the chilled dough into a large rectangle. Spread tomato sauce evenly and add your desired toppings such as vegan cheese, olives, bell peppers, mushrooms, and corn.
7. Form the Rolls
Roll the dough into a log and slice it into equal pieces.
8. Prepare for Baking
Place the pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Lightly press them down by hand and brush the tops with more oil or vegan butter.
9. Bake the Rolls
Bake at 180°C (with fan, no preheating needed) for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
