Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, salt, orange juice (if using), orange zest, egg white, yeast, melted butter, and flour. Mix well by hand until a soft dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest for 1 hour until the dough rises.

  2. After the dough has risen, divide it into 11 equal parts. Lightly knead each part and shape as desired. Arrange the shaped dough on a baking tray.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolk with 1 tsp of milk. Brush this mixture over the shaped dough.

  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
