Directions

1. Step

In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the oil, warm milk, aflour, dry yeast, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until a smooth dough forms.

2. Step

Cover the dough with a cloth and plastic wrap. Let it rest in a warm place for about an hour until it doubles in size. Once risen, divide the dough into small balls and create a small indentation in the center of each ball.

3. Step

Cover the dough balls again with plastic wrap and let them rest for another 20 minutes. Heat oil in a deep pan and deep fry the dough balls until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

4. Step

Prepare the Crema Pasticceria by whisking together the egg yolks, cornstarch, sugar, and lemon zest in a saucepan. Gradually add the milk while whisking. Cook over low heat, stirring continuously, until thickened. Let it cool.

5. Step

Transfer the cooled Crema Pasticceria to a piping bag with a fine tip. Pipe decorative designs on top of the fried dough balls. Garnish with fresh strawberries and sprinkle with icing sugar before serving.
