Thousand Hole Pancakes, also known as Baghrir, are a delightful and unique type of pancake originating from North Africa, particularly popular in Morocco and Algeria. These spongy pancakes are characterized by the countless tiny holes that form on their surface as they cook, giving them their distinctive “thousand-hole” appearance. The porous texture makes them perfect for absorbing toppings like melted butter and honey, resulting in a wonderfully soft, sweet, and rich treat.Unlike traditional pancakes, Thousand Hole Pancakes are made with a yeast-based batter, which gives them a light, airy structure and adds a mild, tangy flavor. Often served for breakfast, as a snack, or with tea, they are beloved for their satisfying texture and the way they soak up flavors, making each bite a deliciously moist experience.
