Directions

1. Step

In a large bowl, combine sugar (60 g), dry yeast (7 g), and vanillin (1 tsp). Add slightly warm milk (300 ml), egg (1), and oil (60 ml). Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour (600 g) and a pinch of salt. Stir and knead the ingredients until you form a soft, smooth dough.

2. Step

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and a clean kitchen cloth. Let it rest for about 1 hour until it doubles in size. Once risen, shape the dough into a round disc. Spread the softened butter (125 g) evenly over the surface, sprinkle with a little sugar, and fold the dough into a square shape. Cut the dough into equal pieces and shape each piece into a round ball.

3. Step

Place the shaped dough pieces onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover them with a cloth and let them rest for an additional 30 minutes.

4. Step

Brush the tops of the dough with a mixture of egg yolk and milk. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

5. Step

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
