Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix 420 g of flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt. Add 200 g of butter and mix with your hands until crumbly. Add 200 g sour cream (or yogurt/kefir) and 1 egg, and knead into a soft dough.

  2. Divide the dough into 2 equal parts. Wrap each portion in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  3. In a separate bowl, prepare the filling by mixing 280 g flour, 150 g sugar, vanilla, and 150 g butter until crumbly.

  4. Roll out one portion of the chilled dough. Brush with egg white. Sprinkle half the prepared filling evenly over the dough and, optionally, 60 g of almonds. Roll out the second portion of dough similarly.

  5. Mix 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon milk. Brush this mixture over the rolled dough. Use a slotted spoon to create a design on the surface, then cut into small pieces. Place the pieces on a baking sheet and sprinkle the reserved filling over the top.

  6. Bake at 180°C (356°F) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
